"Celebrate"

My husband just had a birthday. A milestone birthday. He turned forty. I decided to go and buy him this really fancy cake. It was beautiful. I wasn't around when he blew out his candle or ate his slice but when I returned from taking my child to a hockey tournament the whole cake pretty much was still there. My husbands favorite cake is basic. Yellow cake with chocolate frosting NOT the decadent cake I had purchased. So, while he was at work, I made him yellow cake cupcakes with chocolate icing. He was happy.  

This is a poor photo of the illustration. I made this with students to illustrate how to depict an Illustration Friday theme. I've posted a board up in my school titled Illustration Friday.  On Friday, I post the theme and students, on their own time, depict the word in a picture.  The kids get a kick out of seeing all the different interpretations.  

Time

 Ok, It's Thursday, at 7:05 PM.   I'm running out of time to post my illustration Friday.  The them, Time.  Time..what does it mean?  So many ways to interpret time.  Time for an appointment, running late...running out of time..not enough time.  Time and I are not friends.   I'm greedy and never seem to have enough.  How do you interpret something so elusive?  This is how I feel about time. 

"Pale"

It's Friday, I had a moment so I did Illustration Friday. I just had a moment so this was a quick sketch and color. Nothing great but I got it up which is more then I can say for last week...or last month....or...Ok, you get the picture!

CLIQUE

I personally have never belonged to a click. I've often wondered if it's nice...to belong...somewhere.

I was asked to decorate a hatbox for the Hill Country Book Festival. The hatbox will be auctioned off and the funds generated from the sale will benefit the Williamson County Literacy Council. They ladies I painted on the box do look a bit clique-ish so here ya go. :) I used pen and ink to outline the faces directly onto the box and then used watercolors. I haven't used them in quite a while, like years! It was a very fun project.

I couldn't think of anything clever. I'm amazed at all the wonderful interpretations there are. I feel brain dead so here is a sour old lady I sketched in my sketch book.
