"Celebrate"

My husband just had a birthday. A milestone birthday. He turned forty. I decided to go and buy him this really fancy cake. It was beautiful. I wasn't around when he blew out his candle or ate his slice but when I returned from taking my child to a hockey tournament the whole cake pretty much was still there. My husbands favorite cake is basic. Yellow cake with chocolate frosting NOT the decadent cake I had purchased. So, while he was at work, I made him yellow cake cupcakes with chocolate icing. He was happy.

This is a poor photo of the illustration. I made this with students to illustrate how to depict an Illustration Friday theme. I've posted a board up in my school titled Illustration Friday.  On Friday, I post the theme and students, on their own time, depict the word in a picture.  The kids get a kick out of seeing all the different interpretations.

Christy--that is so cool that you're doing IF with your students. (My husband prefers basic cakes too--and it drives me crazy since I'm a 'the more glop the better' kind a gal.) I'm sort of teaching art (just not with you :( ) I'm an Art in Action volunteer at my son's school.
